Remember - Harry Nilsson

Long ago, far away
Life was clear, close your eyes
Remember is a place from long ago
Remember filled with everything you know
Remember when you're sad and feelin' down
remember turn around
Remember life is just a memory
Remember close your eyes and you can see
Remember think of all that life can be
Remember-
Dream, love is only in a dream, remember –
Remember life is never as it seems.
Dream
Long ago, far away
Life was clear, close your eyes

It's Saint Patrick's Day ...

So tell me big boy, what's in your pint glass?
I haven't been there for a few weeks, but something tells me the Old Carriage Inn will have festivities planned in honor of the Ol' Oirish Saint.

You Hadda Be There

The Old Carriage Inn pajama party didn't go over without a fight ...
A pillow fight that is. I mean, can't you people behave, just for one night?
In other news, a Christmas Eve/December 24 revel to end all revels is in the works, so call the bar at 718-788-7747 for details, or just show up. The bar will be closed on the 25th: Merry Christmas!!!
A Mardi Gras New Year's Celebration Queen Dee-style on December 31 is also on the slate.
From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., for a measly $65, you get an open bar (mmmmm...beer), hot/cold buffet (mmmmm...pastrami), party favors (Happy Neeeeeew Year!!!), kickass Karaoke with Mike The Incomparable Sisco Kid & Debi The Red Hot Mama, and a champagne toast.

Saturdays...If You Dare

Hey baby, it's gettin' kinda cold outside. Know what that means?
It's time to get all warm and cozy and snuggle up next to your best drinking buddies at the Old Carriage Inn, December 10, as the Park Slope sports bar, which knows no boundaries, hosts its annual Winter Pajama Party.
Wha? You're joking...right?
We joketh not.
Hot babes, sports fans, revelers and regulars alike will all be donning their jammies whilst braving the December chill ... and to make things a wee bit more interesting, Karaoke Mike (aka "The Sisco Kid") will be inviting all you crazies up to sing your favorite torch songs and heavy metal ballads (and anything else in between) after 10 p.m.
All we could say is, leave your inhibitions and civilian clothing at the door.

Unless I'm Mistaken

I do believe that Queen D is hosting a weeklong "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme at the bar. Sweet!
And speaking of Nightmares Before Christmas, there must be at least seven inches of snow on the ground today.
No matter, when you saddle up and order your beer, expect to be rubbing elbows with those [freakish skeletons and their ilk], who look like they should have heeded the dreaded Last Call a few centuries ago.

Free Pool & Football Sundays

What beats Free Pool at the Carriage Inn on a Sunday? Nothing, as far as I'm concerned.
But since majority rules, I'd have to say that lots of football games and a Big Screen TV are the overall general consensus.
The Giants take on the Cowboys at 1 p.m. and the Jets go up against the Patriots at 4:15 p.m.
Here's a comprehensive listing of Sunday's matchups.
Just remember, no hogging the pool table ('cause then you'll have to answer to me, hehe).
Still not convinced? How's about reading the review in Time Out New York:
"...But if you're looking to play pool for free all day on Sundays, it has your table—in fact, three [sic: two] of them. While saving $1.50 (the usual rate) per game, sip on one of the unpredictable beer specials from an extensive selection of drafts, or a $3.50 special cocktail (bartender's choice). If you shoot four games of stick and down four drinks, you'll save at least a Hamilton."

Yeah Baby!

The brand new Old Carriage Inn Sports Lounge website/blog is officially up and running. W'hoo!
We are located at 312 Seventh Avenue off of Eighth Street (718-788-7747), a block from the 7th Avenue stop on the F train. Click here for directions.
Check back here regularly for all the latest updates on Dorothy's insane theme parties (Nightmare Before Xmas, Mardi Gras, Pajama -- yes, that's right, old timey Oirish patrons wearing nighties and toting teddy bears.), drink specials, Karaoke Mike, fundraisers and other previously unheard of manifestations of revelry.
Feel free to leave comments or email us at oldcarriageinn@yahoo.com.
